Taylor Fritz vs. Novak Djokovic preview.

Following Aryna Sabalenka‘s match with Marketa Vondrousova, Novak Djokovic and Taylor Fritz will close out Tuesday’s night session on Arthur Ashe.

With Djokovic looking to capture an elusive 25th Slam, and Fritz looking to pick up his first win over the all-time great while moving one step closer to another final in Flushing Meadows, the stakes couldn’t be higher.

Throughout this tournament, Fritz has continued to impress, most recently eliminating Tomas Machac in straight sets in the Round of 16. On the flip side, Djokovic has seemingly played his way into form, progressively getting more and more dominant with each passing match.

After going four sets with both Zachary Svajda and Cameron Norrie, Djokovic put on a dominant display against Jan-Lennard Struff in the Round of 16, winning in straight sets.

Tonight, the two top-10 players will collide in a highly-anticipated quarterfinal.

Djokovic vs. Fritz H2H

Throughout their careers, Novak Djokovic and Taylor Fritz have faced off a total of ten times, with the 24-time Grand Slam winner notably winning all ten of their previous meetings.

Despite that, given the fact that Djokovic has been focusing on Grand Slams, the two haven’t played since the ATP Masters 1000 tournament in Shanghai last season, where Djokovic picked up a straight-set win.

After his win over Machac, Fritz explained to members of the press what made their 2024 meeting in Shanghai so different, and why he’s feeling confident heading into Tuesday’s quarterfinal clash:

“I think the thing is, it’s spanned over so many years. I think the first, probably like seven or eight times I played him, I wasn’t just a good enough player to have that much of a chance, unless I have like the best day ever and he has a bad day.

“Only the last couple times we’ve played I think I’ve been this, just better player that can, I’d say compete and have chances and last time we played, Shanghai, I had looks, I had set points in the second set, I really probably should have won the second, taken it to a third set.”
