It’s a World Series game in New York, so you knew Billy Joel would be called upon to sing in the national anthem.

He performed in 1986 when the Mets won the World Series. He performed in 2000 during the famous cross-city battle between the Mets and Yankees. And he performed again before Game 3 at Citi Field. You can see a portion of his performance above, and here’s a bit more:

Joel, a New York native, has long been a part of Mets history. Not only has he sung previous national anthems, but he performed the last concert at Shea Stadium, and his most famous hit song, “Piano Man,” is played in the middle of the eighth inning at Mets home games this year.
