Tyler Adcock: Everything you need to know

Adcock cleared waivers Wednesday and was sent outright to Triple-A El Paso. Adcock was DFA'd by the Padres on Sunday to make room for Blake Hunt, but the former will officially remain in the organization after passing through waivers unclaimed. The 29-year-old has turned in a 7.15 ERA and 1.59 WHIP across 11.1 innings between three of San Diego's minor-league affiliates this year, and he's likely to spend the vast majority of what's left of the season in the minors.

The Padres designated Adcock for assignment Sunday. Adcock will give up his spot on the 40-man roster to catcher Blake Hunt, who was called up from Triple-A El Paso to provide depth behind the plate after Freddy Fermin (concussion) joined Luis Campusano (toe) on the injured list Sunday. The right-handed reliever made three appearances in the big leagues for the Mets in 2025 but had pitching exclusively in the minors this season, logging a 7.15 ERA and 1.59 WHIP in 11.1 innings across stops with three of the Padres' affiliates.

The Padres optioned Adcock to Triple-A El Paso on Tuesday. Adcock failed to win an Opening Day roster spot in a deep Padres bullpen, despite letting in just one earned run on four hits and no walks over his four innings in Cactus League play. The 29-year-old righty has seen limited big-league action over the past three seasons between stops with the Mariners and Mets, logging a 5.48 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 19:4 K:BB in 23 innings.
