French Formula One driver Jules Bianchi is in critical condition after suffering a serious head injury Sunday during the Japan Grand Prix, which took place as Typhoon Phanfone battered the country.
Bianchi was unconscious following the crash and rushed via ambulance to a local hospital, where he underwent emergency surgery.

And one of Formula One spokesman Matteo Bonciani updating the media on Bianchi’s condition following the crash. Bonciani said Bianchi was taken by ground ambulance because a helicopter normally available to escort injured drivers in case of emergency was unable to fly because of the severe weather.
