Despite a rumor to the contrary, Stuart Scott is not in hospice care.

The longtime ESPN anchor, who’s been absent from ESPN’s NFL telecasts this year as he undergoes cancer treatments, tweeted Tuesday that the hospice rumor is an “air ball” and a “swing and a miss.”

ESPN spokesman Josh Krulewitz also tweeted that people should disregard the rumor after it spread on Twitter.

Scott, a fixture on the network for more than two decades, has missed the first half of the NFL season, during which he typically anchors ESPN’s Monday Night Football pregame and postgame coverage.

But he’s maintained a fairly active Twitter presence, including his rebuttal of the rumor on Wednesday.
