NFL Betting Lines, Odds & Picks: Week 16

Another. Winning. Week. Never in a thousand years would we have guessed we'd be at the mark we are heading in to the holidays and Week 16. But, here we are, concluding an 8-7-1 week with an easy win on Monday night backing the Saints against the helpless Chicago Bears. Sitting at a healthy 115-104-4 on the year, we look to put our foot on the gas and dust the field (Vegas). On to Week 16! Tennessee at Jacksonville (-3.5) Lord help us all with this prime time game. What a disaster. We can get better odds on Phil Simms and Jim Nantz falling asleep during this telecast than picking the right side between two teams that, frankly, don't want to win this game. Loser of this matchup has the upperhand to the first overall pick. Tennessee is helpless at this point so might as well back the home team.There are no stats we can give you at this point to persuade to pick one side. THE PICK: Jaguars (-3.5) San Diego at San Francisco (-1) We are so done with the 49ers. Just like they are with their head coach. Reports are leaking out that Harbaugh is being courted by the University of Michigan already and the writing appears to be on the wall that he is on the way out of San Francisco. The Chargers still have something to play for as they are in the hunt for the wildcard despite the loss to Denver last week. Chris Borland, maybe the 49ers best defensive player the last few weeks, will be sidelined for the season. Even with Keenan Allen out and Phillip Rivers banged up, it's tough to see San Francisco putting together a full 60 minutes. THE PICK: Chargers (+1) Philadelphia (-7.5) at Washington If the Eagles want to make the playoffs they must win this football game. Then who better to play against than the dumpster fire that is the Washington Redskins? The 'Skins will be starting Robert Griffin III against their will as Colt McCoy is out for the season with a neck injury. However, this has the feeling of a rallying cry for the 'Skins. DeSean Jackson will be playing against his old team and Robert Griffin will have something to prove, whether he likes his coach or not. The public will be all over Philadelphia. We'll fade 'em here. THE PICK: Redskins (+7.5) Minnesota at Miami (-6.5) The Vikings are playing pretty inspired football the last few weeks with their blowout win over Carolina and near victory in Detroit last week. A blocked field goal did them in as they tried to upset their division rivals. We love the Vikings in this spot. The Dolphins were eliminated from playoff contention last week with their blowout loss to New England and the rumor mill has begun to spin with Joe Philbin's firing being heavily talked about. Teddy Bridgewater is a Miami boy and will have a big gathering of family and friends on hand to watch him pick apart a Miami defense who has not played well the last few weeks. THE PICK: Vikings (+6.5) Green Bay (-10.5) at Tampa Bay The Packers just haven't been the same team away from Lambeau Field, as apparent in their Week 15 loss to the Bills. They did not play well and Aaron Rodgers had his worst game of the season. Can the game's greatest quarterback play two bad ones in a row? No shot. Gerald McCoy, the Bucs best defender, injured his knee last week in Carolina and may miss the game. The Pack cannot afford to lose this game as they could conceivably fall out of the playoff picture with a bad loss down in Florida. Pack rolls. THE PICK: Packers (-10.5) Detroit (-7.5) at Chicago Chicago is starting Jimmy Clausen this weekend. The Lions have Ndamukong Suh. That is all. THE PICK: Lions (-7.5) Atlanta at New Orleans (-6) About four months ago the Falcons beat the rival Saints in Atlanta. Now is the time for some revenge. The Saints and Drew Brees got their swagger back last week in a beatdown of the Bears. A win this week will all but put the sorry NFC South division crown in their pocket. Julio Jones will be a gametime decision. If he can't go, the Falcons will be in big trouble. THE PICK: Saints (-6) New England (-10) at N.Y. Jets The first meeting between these two teams was too close for comfort as the Jets took advantage of a lackluster Thursday night performance by the Patriots and almost stole one if not for a late blocked field goal. New England won't fool around with this one. They've won the AFC East, but are determined to make the playoffs go through Foxboro. Rex Ryan always has the right scheme to slow down New England defensively but they are on too much of a roll right now. THE PICK: Patriots (-10) Kansas City at Pittsburgh (-3) Wow. What a game. Each team needing to win to stay in the playoff chase. A loss and you're all but out of it. That being said, we'll take Ben Roethlisberger, Antonio Brown and Le'Veon Bell over the weapons Kansas City has. The Steelers know they'll need to win out in order to make the playoffs. It starts this weekend. THE PICK: Steelers (-3) Cleveland at Carolina (-3.5) Johnny Football or Johnny Manziel in this case, looked like a rookie and played like a rookie in his NFL debut as starter last week home against Cincinnati. Now he has to go on the road to Carolina, face a team who is playing inspired football trying to make a playoff run and lift his team who is out of the playoffs to victory. If Derek Anderson gets another start at quarterback this week, he'll face the team who he had his only NFL success with years back. He'll be inspired as well. Panthers have too much to play for in this one and Johnny has a long way to go. THE PICK: Carolina (-3.5) Baltimore (-5.5) at Houston Can someone tell us who is playing quarterback for the Houston Texans? Tom Savage? Case Keenum? Warren Moon? Houston is a mess at the most important position in football. Baltimore has a good offensive line and will be ready for J.J. Watt. They gave a lackluster effort against Jacksonville in Week 15 and have they too know they need to win out in order to ensure a playoff spot. THE PICK: Ravens (-5.5) N.Y. Giants at St. Louis (-5) Sorry, Shaun Hill just doesn't move the meter. He was really bad in the game against Arizona last week, while Eli and company handled the Redskins with ease in Week 15. Eli found his new favorite target, Odell Beckham Jr. He'll face a stiff test in Janoris Jenkins of the Rams, but in this situation, with both teams out of the playoffs, guys are playing for their coaches and jobs. We'll back the better quarterback in this situation. THE PICK: Giants (+5) Buffalo (-6) at Oakland What a win for the Bills last week in beating Green Bay. They put themselves in the hunt for the wild card picture, but will probably need to win out and get help in order to make the playoffs. This looks like a key "letdown" spot for the Bills, on the road at one of the league's worst teams with New England on the horizon in Week 17. The Bills defense is good enough to win this game on their own and will shut down Derek Carr. THE PICK: Bills (-6) Indianapolis at Dallas (-3) We have faded Dallas almost every game at home and backed them nearly every game on the road. They simply don't have a home field advantage in Jerry's World. Couple that with DeMarco Murray's broken hand and the Cowboys will need to lean on Tony Romo to get the job done. Indianapolis would prefer this game be a shootout and Andrew Luck against that sieve defense of Dallas's is a prime matchup. We'll back Luck and company here as they play for playoff seeding at this point. THE PICK: Colts (+3) Seattle (-8) at Arizona This is a massive game for both teams if Arizona wants to maintain the #1 seed in the NFC or if Seattle wants to steal it away. But Arizona's defense is so underrated. They blitz more than any team in the NFL and will up for the task of carrying them to a win if need be. Eight is too many points for a divisional game in primetime football on the road to be laying. We'll take our chances on Bruce Arians and the Cardinals defense. THE PICK: Cardinals (+8) Denver (-3) at Cincinnati When the lights get bright, Andy Dalton gets small. Dalton has not played particularly well in his career on primetime football and what make this Monday night game any different? Both teams desperately need the game, but Denver just has more weapons on offense and defense. Vegas saying Denver minus three on the road is more like Denver minus six at home or on a neutral field. Peyton hasn't played well as of late. We'd imagine him to turn it on for this one. THE PICK: Broncos (-3) Best of luck!
