TMZ Sports reports that after years of delays and anticipation, pound-for-pound rivals Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao have finally agreed to fight.

The bout is expected to take place on May 2 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, to be broadcast by Showtime Pay Per View at 10PM ET.

According to TMZ:

Floyd Mayweather has agreed to fight Manny Pacquiao … multiple sources tell TMZ Sports … who say the two finally came to an agreement moments ago

… it was all up to Floyd to sign on the dotted line.

But now, after meeting in person at the Miami Heat game earlier this week … we’re told it’s a done deal .. and the two sides will make a formal announcement in the coming days.

Floyd Mayweather Jr. (48-0, 26 KOs) and Manny Pacquiao (57-5-2, 38 KOs) established their dominance over boxing’s mid-weight divisions a decade ago and have been skirting and dodging each other for almost as long.

Recently, with rumors circulating of secret negotiations between television networks and promotion companies, and the ‘chance’ meeting of Mayweather and Pacquiao courtside at a Miami Heat game, there appeared signs of hope that the elusive matchup may finally get made.

A publicity stunt? Perhaps. But if reports are right, fans will finally get the the fight they had eagerly been awaiting.
