Before Monday night’s home game against the Notre Dame fFghting Irish, the University of North Carolina paid tribute to former ESPN anchor Stuart Scott who passed away early Sunday morning after losing his battle with cancer for a 3rd time.
Scott attended North Carolina where he studied broadcast journalism. Shortly after graduation, Scott’s first job was with a local-TV affiliate in Durham, North Carolina, which is along the stretch called Tobacco Road where North Carolina, Duke and North Carolina State are all within 25 miles of each other.
The Tar Heels also paid tribute to Scott tonight with a special patch that says “Stu” on their jersey.
