Alexander Gustafsson (16-2 MMA, 8-2 UFC) vs. Anthony Johnson (18-4 MMA, 9-4 UFC)

Round 1 – Johnson comes out like a bat out of hell swinging viciously at Gustafsson. Gustafsson tries to answer with some strikes and gets Johnson accidentally with an eye poke. Johnson takes about 30 seconds to break and continues right where he left off. Heavy hit after heavy hit and Gustafsson falls to the ground. Johnson gets his back and rains down ground and pound. Gustafsson holds it off for a moment but then stops defending himself completely. The referee is forced to call an end to Johnson’s brutal punches.

The most impressive performance by Johnson I’ve ever seen, and makes Jones vs. Johnson that much more unpredictable.

Ryan Bader (18-4 MMA, 11-4 UFC) vs. Phil Davis (13-2 MMA, 9-2 UFC)

Round 1 – Bader landing some serious strikes. Phil trying to push up Bader against the cage. Phil showing some of his improved striking early but Bader steals the round.

Round 2 – Very tough round to judge. Both Phil and Ryan are going to the ground and stay standing. Seems like this will be the theme for the rest of the fight. Bader tries to establish the jab and Phil throws in some kicks, one landing solidly. Round could go either way.

Round 3 – Phil comes out in control and lands strikes early. The round has back and forth exchanges, but most are favoring towards Davis. Late in the closing moments, Davis goes for a takedown but gets taken down himself. This will be a tough fight to score, leaning towards Davis.

Ryan Bader wins by Split Decision

Round 1 – Mousasi comes out striking with Dan they both exchange heavy blows initially. Henderson appears to be bleeding out of the corner of his left eye and stays in tight. Mousasi lands a heavy left on Hendo’s temple and he falls down, stumbling. Mousasi jumps on him and rains down more strikes. The referee stops the fight and Hendo is clearly upset with the decision. The crowd erupts with a chorus of boo’s.

Not a terrible stoppage, but also not great. For a guy like Hendo who has only been knocked out once in his career, you have to give him some more time. Henderson will hopefully pick up from this and fight again.
