Boe has admitted to having had a drinking problem and suffering from depression, and is now tee total.

Boe told the Daily Mail that while a student at London’s Royal College of Music he “went to Ronnie Scott’s one night and drank myself stupid, vomited all over myself in the back of a cab and woke up face-down on the floor in the college hall, really scared.”

He also performed a gig in Amsterdam while stoned: “Beforehand, I went to a coffee shop to play pool and had some coffee and cakes. I didn’t know they were hash cakes… I don’t know how I pulled off the gig, but I did.

3. He’s Performed on Broadway, and for the Queen

Boe is perhaps most famous in the UK for performing at The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations in 2012, singing a number of songs including “Somewhere”, from West Side Story, on the balcony of Buckingham Palace.
