It has been a nightmare season for Blackpool FC. Just four years removed from a historic season in the Premier League, the Lancashire club will be relegated to the third tier League 1) for the first time since 2006-2007. The team tallied just 25 points from 45 matches, the lowest total ever in the division. Blackpool also didn’t win any of its 23 away matches.
In the eyes of many, a big reason for this is the ownership of Karl and Owen Oyston (the latter of which is not a good person). The team has massive debts and was barely able to field a team to start the season.
Blackpool fans took matters into their own hands in the season finale against Huddersfield on Saturday. During the halftime break, many rushed onto the field and refused to move when the players came out of the tunnel.
The match was abandoned and will likely not be completed.
