Buster Posey has a reputation as a well-spoken, if not slightly quiet guy when he isn’t leading the San Francisco Giants to World Series titles. His wife, Kristen, isn’t much different.

The Georgia native first met Buster when the two were in high school and it didn’t take long for the pair to start dating. It’s been the two of them ever since. But while Buster’s on-field dominance has forced the spotlight to shine a little brighter on him, Kristen has managed to stay under-the-radar. Here’s what you need to know her:

1. She & Buster Met During High School – While Taking the SAT’s

It was a match made in standardized test heaven. During an interview with CSN Bay Area, Kristen explained how she and Buster first met. The two both attended the same high school in Georgia and were, as fate would have it, seated next to each other during the SAT’s. She told the TV station:

We had the SAT together, my senior year, his junior year an dmy last name was Powell. So we were sitting close. That’s how it all started. Then we went to prom and we’ve been together ever since.

Kristen added that Buster didn’t come up with any particularly extravagant way of asking her to prom back then. There was no prom-posal. There was only a passing question in the hallway and an answer that would shape their relationship for years to come. “I think he was pretty nervous,” she said.

2. The Pair Got Married in 2009

After the SAT’s and high school prom, Buster and Kristen, who attended Auburn before transferring to Valdosta State, tied the knot in 2009 in a ceremony in their Georgia hometown.

Although the ceremony itself was on the other side of the country from the couple’s baseball home in San Francisco, Kristen still managed to sneak a sports-related surprise into the day. She and Buster walked down the aisle, for the first time as husband and wife, to the tune of “Take Me Out to the Ball Game.”

3. Kristen Gave Birth to Twins in 2011

The Posey’s became first-time parents in 2011 when they welcomed twins – a boy named Lee Dempsey Posey and a girl named Addison Lynn Posey. Technically, Lee is the older sibling, arriving about two minutes before his sister. As you’d expect, twins present a particular challenge to parents and it took a little while for the couple to adapt. Buster told The Post Game:

At first it was just sleep, change them, feed them. But now their personalities are really starting to come out. They are different, each with their own little quirks. It’s safe to say Kristin (wife) has more work being at home with them than I do at the ballpark right now.

The twins also arrived at a particularly interesting time. If you do the math, the twins were born almost exactly nine months after Buster and the San Francisco Giants won the 2010 World Series. They made their on-field debut last year when Erin Andrews infamously told Lee to “get it together” during a post-game interview.

Once the baseball season is over, and the World Series parades have wrapped, Kristen, Buster and their twins return to Georgia, living in a home in one of the brand-new developments in their hometown of Leesburg, Georgia. When the pair moved into their home, it was still built on the foundations of an old farmstead and, for some time, Kristen even raised dairy heifers.

Kristen and Buster have become the quasi-faces of Leesburg since he first rose to MLB dominance, bringing publicity to their small town home. It also fits their lifestyle perfect. Self-proclaimed “homebodies,” Kristen said she and Buster simply love being home together instead of out:

We have two year old twins and they keep us pretty busy at home. So we’re pretty much homebodys anyway, even before kids. We don’t go out too much. That’s just us, we’re different than some people.

5. Kristen Has Said Her Favorite TV Show is ‘The Bachelor’

A relationship as long as Kristen and Buster’s only works one way – with compromises. And there is no greater compromise for any couple, even MLB all-star couples, than deciding what television shows to watch at night.

According to Sports Illustrated, Kristen’s favorite show is “The Bachelor” and she’s able to get MVP husband to join in on the reality TV fun every week but only by agreeing to something else, of course. So, once the roses are doled out and the inevitable tears are shed, Kristen joins Buster on the couch for one other TV show, his favorite, “Swamp People.”
