WWE Battleground 2015: Reactions & Review

WWE Battleground 2015

Here’s our final review of WWE Battleground 2015!

R-Truth vs. King Barrett (Winner gets Barrett’s Crown)

Reactions: Like most WWE PPV pre-show matches, this was an average kickoff matchup. Truth pulled off his usual pre and mid-match antics to entertain the crowd, while Barrett made sure his authoritative stance was felt by everyone in attendance. The typical back and forth offense we’re used to was on display here as both men put on a so-so test of physical wills. Truth’s comeback sequence was fun to see as he broke out the Scissors Kick. Barrett’s counter of Truth’s Lie Detector, which was followed up with a Bull Hammer, was another cool moment to witness. Like we mentioned before, this was average at best and nothing you’ll want to watch after your initial viewing.

Rating: 2 out of 5 Stars

Randy Orton vs. Sheamus

Reactions: Watching Orton and Sheamus face each other so many times before this contest made us dread watching them do it again here. But we were halfway pleased with the match both men managed to put on. Orton and Sheamus pulled out their usual array of signature moves in front of a hot crowd that was all for their hometown hero Orton. The back and forth exchanges here were decent at best. The matches best moments came when Orton was in control, which were capped off by Orton’s superplex and Powerslam counter after dodging a Brogue Kick. This bout was better than your average Orton/Sheamus encounter. Everything we witnessed here was decent at best.

Rating: 2 & a Half out of 5 Stars

The Prime Time Players (Darren Young and Titus O’Neil) (c) vs. The New Day (Big E, Kofi Kingston, and/or Xavier Woods) (WWE Tag Team Championship)

Reactions: This is the match that lifted out spirits for the PPV. The action here was fast and way more intense than the contest that came before it. All four men in the ring put on a fast paced contest for the WWE Tag Team Championship. Some of the biggest moments of this title match included Big E landing a huge ring apron splash on Young and Titus landing some super loud chest chops on Kofi. The finishing moments of this fast-paced encounter were the best as Young landed his double-knee gutbuster and helped his partner get in his Clash of the Titus finisher on Big E. After watching this title rematch, we wouldn’t mind seeing them go head to head once again.
