Everton disappointed with a 11th place finish in the English Premier League in 2014-2015 after a 5th place finish in 2013-2014. Everton could not get going in the 2014-2015 season, although they had two wins over top-seven finishing teams in April, beating Southampton 1-0 and Manchester United 3-0. Romelu Lukaku scored 20 goals in all competitions in 2014-2015, including 10 goals in the English Premier League, after guaranteeing his future with Everton. The Blues have added Gerard Deulofeu permanently from Barcelona and added Manchester United veteran Tom Cleverly on a free transfer, but the big saga thus far is if or if not John Stones will be off to Chelsea for the beginning of 2015-2016.

Everton does not have an easy start to the season, playing Tottenham, Chelsea, Manchester City, Southampton, and Swansea before the end of September, and their Europa League challenge may be over before it starts. Everton has a soft ending to the season, including three matchups with bottom of the table teams from 2014-2015 or 2015-2016 newcomers.
