Sergio Aguero Almost Scored in the Opening Minute

Manchester City forward Sergio Aguero almost gave his team a dream start. He was one-on-one with Chelsea goal Asmir Begovic, but was unable to finish the chance and Begovic had an easy save to make.

Soon after, Aguero had another chance on net, but this time Begovic had to make an excellent save to deny the Argentinean forward.

Aguero Finally Got One Past Begovic to Give Manchester City 1-0 Lead

After several chances Aguero finally beats Begovic with this effort to give the hosts a 1-0 lead. It was a great finish by Aguero with the Chelsea defense stretched.

The goal is the 79th career EPL goal in just 121 matches for Aguero.

Eden Hazard Spurned Chelsea’s Best Chance by Shooting Right At Joe Hart

Having created little if anything for the entire match, Chelsea had a great chance to get back on level terms in the 70th minute. Eden Hazard picked up a loose ball right on the penalty box, but his shot went straight at Joe Hart with a little pressure from the Man City defense.

Vincent Kompany Doubled Manchester City’s Lead in the 79th minute

A header from Vincent Kompany wrapped up all three points for Manchester City. His shot gave Begovic no chance.

Fernandinho Gave Manchester City a 3-0 Lead in Final Minutes

Fernandinho finished off the win in style for Manchester City, hitting this one-time shot past Begovic on the volley in the 85th minute.

Not known for his scoring ability, the 30-year-old had eight goals in 66 career EPL games before this finish.

Showdowns between the top four clubs are always the talk of the country, and the first one takes place in the second week of the Premier League season as Manchester City welcomes Chelsea to the Etihad Stadium.

Chelsea goalie Thibaut Courtois will begin serving his three-match ban for a red card received in the Swansea draw. Diego Costa appears to have recovered from his hamstring troubles and will lead the Chelsea front line.

Manchester City forward Sergio Aguero has also recovered from the Copa America and may regain his place up front ahead of Wilfried Bony. New signing Fabian Delph has yet to make his Man City debut as he recovers from a hamstring injury.
