The Arsenal midfielder Santi Cazorla emulated John Terry’s 2008 Champions League final penalty miss with even more hilarious consequences. The Gunners went on to lose the game 2-1 and thus hand top spot in the EPL to Leicester City, at least until Manchester City play Liverpool later on today.
Arsenal took the lead in the game through Olivier Giroud on 28 minutes who was restored to the starting line-up after Theo Walcott was ruled out with injury. However, Tony Pulis’ Baggies got back in the game through James Morrison on 35 minutes with a Mikel Arteta own goal giving West Brom the lead after 40 minutes with an own goal.
The miss comes after Arsenal’s Nacho Monreal revealed that it was Cazorla who convinced him to join the Gunners. “Hey Nacho, come and play for Arsenal, I take great penalties so we have that advantage going for us,” he definitely DIDN’T say.
