Nick Saban is one of the most successful college football coaches in the modern era. Saban has won five national championships and four of them happened while he was the head coach at Alabama.

Saban’s Crimson Tide won the national title in 2009, 2011, 2012 and 2015. Saban also won a share of the national title in 2003 while he was with LSU.

Saban is chasing the ghost of Paul “Bear” Bryant at Alabama. Bryant won six national championships during his career.

Alabama has 16 national championships in football which is the most of any team in the SEC. Ten of the Crimson Tide’s championships have come under Saban or Bryant.

At 64 years old, Saban still has some time to catch Bryant’s record.

Prior to this past season, Alabama’s last national championship occurred in 2012 in a rematch against LSU. The Crimson Tide won 21-0 in their second matchup with the Tigers. Alabama was led by quarterback AJ McCarron and running back Trent Richardson.
