WATCH: Cam Newton Walks Away from Press Conference

It was a long night for Cam Newton.

The NFL MVP was sacked six times, turned the ball over three times and was under pressure from Von Miller and DeMarcus Ware all night on Sunday, as his Carolina Panthers fell to the Denver Broncos, 24-10, in Super Bowl 50.

He had to talk to media afterwards, and the result wasn’t pretty, as he answered questions with the same, short answers before just walking off after a question he didn’t like. You can watch video of that moment above, and here’s an extended look at the press conference:

Unsurprisingly, he drew plenty of criticism:

Newton, one of the more polarizing QBs in the league, has been criticized for immaturity in the past, and this certainly isn’t going to help that image.

There aren’t a lot of situations that are worse for players who have to talk to media directly after losing the biggest game of their life, but it’s clear he could have handled himself better. The Charlotte Observer‘s Joe Person summed it up well:

While the Broncos are off celebrating their Super Bowl win, Panthers fans are unfortunately going to hear about this well into the offseason.
