Matchday 26 ends at the Etihad, where Manchester City face a must-win fixture against Tottenham. Spurs are one point ahead of City but five behind table leaders Leicester, making three points very attractive for both teams. This matchup has seen little restraint in the past, as 41 goals have been scored in the last nine meetings between these squads.
City has struggled against England’s best this season, but should get a boost if Vincent Kompany is healthy enough to return to the lineup. The Belgian defender has battled a calf injury for the majority of the season, and has played nine total minutes in City’s last 20 matches. When the core group of Silva, Aguero, Kompany and Toure were all healthy to begin the season, City scored ten total goals en route to winning their first four league fixtures.
Harry Kane scored his first goal of the season in Spurs’ 4-1 victory over City at White Hart Lane, and is now third in the league with 15 goals. Mauricio Pochettino should have youngster Dele Alli back in the lineup, as the English standout started on the bench in the team’s last match against Watford.
