For the first time in nearly eight years, Anderson Silva will headline a UFC Fight Night.
While that bout against James Irvin in 2008 marked his debut at light heavyweight, Saturday’s fight against Michael Bisping will be an opportunity for the 40-year-old legend to prove he still belongs in the middleweight title picture. He returned from a gruesome leg injury to beat Nick Diaz (although it was eventually ruled a no contest) 13 months ago, and a win against Bisping, who has two straight victories, would make things very interesting in the division.
Either way, it’ll be compelling just to see “The Spider” in the Octagon, making this one of the more anticipated non-PPV events of the year.
