Abby Hornacek has a pretty famous father.

He is Jeff Hornacek, former NBA star turned NBA coach. And now the 53-year-old is set to become the next head coach of the New York Knicks.

Abby might not be as well-known as her father, but she could be on her way. The recent college graduate already has her foot in the door of the sports media world, as she’s gained valuable experience with companies such as Fox Sports.

Here’s what you need to know about Abby Hornacek:


1. Abby Is a Recent USC Graduate

Abby graduated in May 2016 from the University of Southern California, where she majored in Broadcast Journalism.

The Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism was ranked the No. 1 school in the country for journalism schools.

While at USC, Hornacek worked as an anchor and producer for Trojan Vision Televion and as a mulitmedia journalist for Annenberg TV News.



2. She Does Correspondent Work for Fox Sports

Abby already has a lot of experience in the sports media world.

In addition to her duties for the USC media, Abby was a production intern for Fox Sports 1, where she assisted producers for station programming and occasionally appeared on air.

Since May 2014, Hornacek has been a Feature Reporter for Fox Sports Arizona.

Since the summer of 2015, she has been a co-host of San Diego Prep Insider for FOX Sports San Diego and she also served as a correspondent for the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas.



3. Abby Was a Standout Volleyball Player

Abby was a standout volleyball player in high school.

At 5-foot-10, she played setter and opposite hitter at Xavier College Prep in Phoenix, where her team won the Class 5A Division I state title in her first three years. Hornacek also went 8-0 on Xavier Prep’s sand team that won the 2012 state title.

As a senior in 2011-12, Abby had 376 kills, 286 digs, 85 aces and 234 assists.

Abby originally committed to play indoor volleyball at Kansas, but ended up going to Southern Cal, where she played for the beach volleyball team for a season.



4. She Has a Brother

Abby has one older brother, Tyler, who played for the USC men’s volleyball team from 2010-12.

Abby was born in Paradise, Arizona, on April 25, 1994, to Jeff and Stacy Hornacek.

Jeff averaged 14.5 points and 4.9 assists over a career that spanned from 1986-2000. Hornacek was drafted by the Suns and finished his career with the Utah Jazz.



5. Abby Participated in the Miss Arizona Pageant

Abby was the third runner-up in the 2014 Miss Arizona USA Pageant.

At USC, Hornacek was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority, where she served as the Apparel Chairwoman, Preference Day Chair, and New Member Committee in 2014.

She received numerous academic honors at USC, including Lambda Pi Eta National Honors Society Member, USC Phi Sigma Theta Honors Society, Gamma Sigma Alpha National Greek Academic Honors Society, and the Order of Omega.
