Prediction

If the Redskins win, they’re almost certainly in the NFL Playoffs. So Week 17’s matchup against division foe means a lot for Washington, and not nearly as much for the Giants, who may decide to sit some starters. If the Redskins win, the only way they don’t get into the playoffs is with a Green Bay Packers and Detroit Lions tie.

Typically, Washington struggles against New York, going 6-15 in its last 21 match ups. However, the Reskins narrowly defeated the Giants earlier this season. It’s the last game of the regular season for both teams and Washington’s first home game after traveling on the road four of the past five weeks.

Historically, Redskins QB Kirk Cousins has struggled against the Giants defense, but had a nice game during Week 3 when the two teams met. He completed 21 of his 35 passes for 296 yards and two touchdowns and zero interceptions.

On the other hand, the Giants don’t have much to play for, as they already have their playoff spot clinched and are unable to change much with a victory. It’s New York’s first playoff berth in the last five seasons. All signs point to New York not resting its starters and trying to get a victory against its division foe.

The Pick: Washington 29-16 (Redskins cover the spread, the OVER wins)
