Although his team came up on the short end, Kentucky sophomore Isaac Humphries had a career game in the Elite Eight round against North Carolina.

The 7-foot center stepped up and provided a spark that the Wildcats needed to gain the edge in the second half on the Tar Heels. However, it was short-lived, as the Tar Heels pulled away for a dramatic 75-73 win.

Entering the game against the Tar Heels, he was averaging 2.5 points, 2.7 rebounds and 0.2 assists per game. In the biggest game of his career, he shined.

He scored a career-high 12 points to go along with five rebounds and one steal. He shot 63 percent from the field in the game.

It was quite the surprise performance from Humphries, as he hadn’t scored in the tournament up until that point. During the regular season, his best game was when he scored 9 points and grabbed 8 rebounds in an 87-64 victory SF Austin.

Humphries is from Sydney, Australia and chose to attend Kentucky after receiving offers from Arizona and Illinois.
