Golf takes center stage once again with its first major of the professional season this week.
The beauty and excitement of The Masters Tournament returns to Augusta National Golf Club in Augusta, Georgia starting Thursday with the first round and wrapping up with Sunday’s final round.
The historic golf tournament is its 84th year and features as competitive of a field as ever in 2017.
An epic collapse by Jordan Spieth and a thrilling come-from-behind victory by Danny Willett was the story in 2016, and this year figures to offer even more drama.
However, that drama won’t include Tiger Woods, who said he won’t be able to play due to his ailing back just days before the start.
Dustin Johnson is the early favorite to win the green jacket, but he will be challenged until the end by golf’s elite in Spieth, Rory Mcilroy, Jason Day and a slew of others.
There’s a number of criteria for qualifying to play in the tournament, from winning a previous Masters to ranking high on the tour.
