WATCH: Martellus Bennett Sleeps in Lambeau Field Locker Room on Training Camp Eve

Martellus Bennett said he slept in the Packers' locker room after getting locked out of his dorm Tuesday.

Martellus Bennett had an unusual welcome to Green Bay one day prior to the kickoff of the Packers’ training camp.

Bennett, who signed a three-year deal with the Packers this offseason after winning a Super Bowl with the Patriots, was supposed to check into his dorm room at nearby St. Norbert College in DePere on Tuesday.

It’s been a longstanding tradition for Packers players to stay in the college dorm during training camp.

However, the veteran tight end was late to check in and said that he was locked out. Looking for a place to spend the night, he checked into the place where he’d be lacing up his cleats during home games this season: the Lambeau Field locker room.

Bennett documented the incident on his Instagram account, posting a story about his stay.

“Just got to Green Bay not too long ago, couldn’t get in so, tonight I’m sleeping on the floor in my locker,” Bennett said. “Camp life, day one. F**k this s**t.”

In another video post, Bennett said that “sleeping on the floor actually doesn’t bother me. I like to sleep on the floor from time to time.”

In the afternoon hours the next day, Packers coach Mike McCarthy was asked about Bennett’s night of rest on the locker room floor. McCarthy said he was at Lambeau late in the evening, but didn’t notice Bennett sleeping in the locker room.

“I didn’t check,” McCarthy said to reporters Wednesday. “I don’t know anything about it. I was here late last night, so he must have came after I left. I don’t usually check lockers for people sleeping.”

Hours before heading to Green Bay, Bennett had another post to Instagram saying how hard it is to leave his daughter behind every year when arriving at training camp.

Bennett will be one of the top targets this season for Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

Last season on the Patriots, Bennett caught 55 passes for 701 yards and seven touchdowns. Packers training camp officially begins at 8:15 a.m. Thursday.
