Lonzo Ball made his NBA debut against the Clippers, and the results depend on who you ask. The Lakers were blown out 108-92, looking outclassed by the Clippers.

Ball finished the night with three points, nine rebounds, four assists, a block and a steal. At times, Ball displayed his elite court vision with lengthy, fast break passes. Other times, Ball looked passive, lacking the aggression fans hoped for from a top three draft pick.

Ball scored just three points, but only attempted six shots. For the Lakers to have any success this season, they will need Ball to be more aggressive on offense.

For the curious sneaker heads, Ball wore his signature Big Baller Brand shoes in his debut.

While it is a far cry from the NBA regular season, Ball shined in the Las Vegas Summer League. Ball averaged 16.3 points, 9.3 assists, 7.7 rebounds, and 2.5 steals. All indications are fans can expect Ball to contribute in many different aspects of games. Ball’s strength lies in his court vision and passing ability.

For a 19-year-old rookie, Ball’s ability to get his teammates involved is well advanced. At UCLA, Ball averaged 14.6 points, 7.6 assists and 6.0 rebounds while shooting over 41 percent from the three-point line.

Ball may be known for his passing, but he is more than capable of creating his own shot. Ball had success shooting the ball from long-range in college, but there are questions as to whether his unorthodox shot will succeed in the NBA. Ball struggled to shoot the ball in limited summer league action.

Here’s a rundown of Ball’s NBA debut.

Count Patrick Beverley as the First of Many NBA Players to Target Ball

Ball looked to get his teammates involved early, moving the ball up the floor with quick passes to push the pace for the Lakers. As expected, Clippers guard Patrick Beverley was extremely physical in defending Ball, and could be seen talking trash to Ball in the opening minutes.

Ball seemed to gain his footing a few minutes later as he crossed over Beverley and drew a foul.
