Chiefs running back Kareem Hunt
Patrick Mahomes continues to sling the football and set NFL record after NFL record. The front-runner for the MVP leads the Kansas City Chiefs (7-1) into the Dawg Pound to take on No. 1 overall pick Baker Mayfield and the freshly dysfunctional Cleveland Browns (2-5-1) as Week 9 action continues on Sunday afternoon.
The game is scheduled to start at 1 p.m. ET and will be broadcast on CBS in select areas (coverage map here). Mahomes is officially a megastar. After a touchdown pass to Sammy Watkins against the Denver Broncos last Sunday, Mahomes became the fastest player in league history to 25 touchdowns, needing just nine games.
Chiefs wide receiver Tyreek Hill gave some people a scare during the week. Hill was limited in practice late in the week with a groin injury that lingered into Thursday. He practiced in full on Friday, and is likely playing barring a setback. Pass rusher Justin Houston (hamstring) is officially listed as questionable after being out of the Kansas City lineup since Week 5.
The major news out of Cleveland this week were the major firings of head coach Hue Jackson and offensive coordinator Todd Haley. Reports surfaced that Haley, who routinely did not agree with or appreciate the direction Jackson took with the offense and remainder of the team, undermined him at every turn in an attempt to better position himself should the head coaching job eventually became vacant.
Mayfield will have a slightly weaker crop of receivers to work with Sunday. Both Rashard Higgins (knee) and Antonio Callaway (ankle) are questionable.
