Alabama Crimson Tide quarterback Ty Simpson is receiving college interest

The Alabama Crimson Tide saw their season come crashing to the ground in the Rose Bowl against the Indiana Hoosiers, losing in a blowout by a final score of 38-3.

At the end of the day, there was nothing positive to take out of that game. Alabama got dominated and there is nothing else left to say.

Following the loss, attention turned to quarterback Ty Simpson. Fans were curious to see if he would come back for one more college season or head off to the 2026 NFL Draft. Simpson decided to enter his name into the draft.

While he has already announced his intentions to take his talents to the NFL, teams are still calling him with interest in having him transfer to them.

According to a report from Nick Kelly of AL.com on January 11, Simpson has received an aggressive NIL offer that could pay him up to $6.5 million for the 2026 season.

“Alabama QB Ty Simpson declared for the NFL Draft, but other college programs are still trying to get him to enter the transfer portal,” Kelly wrote on X. “One offered a deal that could total $6.5 million.”

Alabama Saw Ty Simpson Rise to the Occasion This Season

Even though the 2025 season did not end as the Crimson Tide had hoped, Simpson took his game to another level.

Throughout the course of the year, the first-year starting quarterback completed 64.5 percent of his pass attempts for 3,567 yards, 28 touchdowns, and just five interceptions. He also ran for 93 yards and two more touchdowns.

At one point during the season, Simpson was viewed as a legitimate Heisman Trophy candidate.

Simpson’s production slowed down towards the end of the season. He ended up suffering a rib injury during the Rose Bowl against the Hoosiers. Unfortunately, his NFl Draft stock also took a hit.

When he was playing his best, Simpson’s value had skyrocketed to potentially being a top-10 pick in the 2026 draft. Many still view him as a first-round pick, but others have dropped his grade to a second or even third-round selection.

What Is the Most Likely Outcome for Simpson?

It still seems very likely that Simpson will stick to his decision to enter the 2026 NFL Draft. He could be swayed by a $6.5 million NIL offer, but choosing to leave Alabama for another college team after announcing for the draft would be a tough decision to make.

Which schools could be making a push to land Simpson in the transfer portal? A few stick out above the rest.

LSU would be one team to watch. Lane Kiffin needs a quarterback and Simpson would be the clear-cut starter for the Tigers on day one. Clemson could be another team to watch, although head coach Dabo Swinney does not like using the transfer portal.

Another sleeper option could be the Nebraska Cornhuskers. Ole Miss also might have interest.

Should Simpson be open to the idea of transferring, quite a few teams would come calling. He’s an elite college quarterback and could help lead a program on a playoff run.

Only time will tell what he chooses to do, but this is a situation worth monitoring very closely.
