Fans are confused about Jon Rahm's future with LIV Golf.

Jon Rahm and the DP World Tour have settled their differences, but this has sparked confusion about the star’s status with LIV Golf. Yes, the DP World Tour revealed that Rahm will be able to participate in the tour’s events.

Yet, some fans are mistakenly translating this news as Rahm leaving LIV Golf, which is not true. At least for now, given the general future of LIV Golf appears in peril, not just for Rahm but all LIV golfers.

“The DP World Tour and Jon Rahm have come to an agreement on conditional releases to play in conflicting tournaments on LIV Golf during the remainder of its 2026 season,” the DP World Tour detailed in a statement, per Golf Week’s Cameron Jourdan.

“This involves payment of all outstanding fines accrued from 2024 to date, along with participation in agreed DP World Tour tournaments (outside the majors) in the remainder of the 2026 season.”

Here’s what you need to know about the latest golf news.

Jon Rahm’s DP World Tour News Unrelated to LIV Golf Future

While the timing of the announcement is interesting, the DP World Tour news is tied to a dispute with Rahm not related to LIV Golf’s future. Rahm was the only European LIV golfer who did not agree to the DP World Tour terms which would have potentially impacted the star’s Ryder Cup status for 2027.

“Players can maintain their DP World Tour membership while competing on different tours so long as they play in a minimum of four non-major DPWT events,” Jourdan detailed in a May 5, story titled, “Jon Rahm settles dispute with DP World Tour after months-long stalemate.” “For those competing on LIV, however, it’s six events, two of which are chosen by the Tour itself.

“Rahm stated he didn’t agree with those terms. He was the only one of nine European LIV members who didn’t agree to terms for a conditional release, which stated players would compete in six-to-eight non-major DP World Tour events — as well as pay any outstanding fines and withdraw any active appeals — in order to keep their status as members.”

Jon Rahm Is Not Going to ‘Waste Time Thinking About’ LIV Golf Rumors

Rahm bolted the PGA Tour in December 2023, for a new deal with LIV Golf estimated at $300 million, the most lucrative contract of any golfer in the league, per Fox Sports. Despite the ongoing rumors about LIV Golf’s future, Rahm emphasized that he is not going to “waste time thinking about it.”

“Until the people in charge told me if the rumors were valid or not, it didn’t make sense for me to think about it or to waste time thinking about it,” Rahm told Sky Sports in April. “We weren’t here [before the tournament week], we knew we were going to play, so the idea was to prepare for a tournament and that’s it.

“As everything suddenly came out, so quickly, I wasn’t too worried about that, because normally, before the rumors come out, we know something.”

Jon Rahm on Future With LIV Golf: ‘I Have Several Years on My Contract Left’

Rahm’s comments came as news surfaced that LIV Golf had lost funding from Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF), calling into question the future of the league beyond 2026. After news broke about his agreement with the DP World Tour, Rahm emphasized that his contract does not leave much wiggle room for an abrupt exit.

“I have several years on my contract left, and I’m pretty sure they did a pretty good job when they drafted that,” Rahm told reporters on May 5, per Underdog Golf.

“So I don’t see many ways out, and as of right now, I’m not really thinking about it.”
