Rory McIlroy finished tied for 19th place at the 2026 Truist Championship campaign with a 4-over 75, after shooting a -4 final round, as Norway’s Kristoffer Reitan, the PGA’s No. 25-ranked golfer, won the event, taking only his maiden trophy the PGA tour.

Fitzpatrick shot a 64 for the rain delayed Saturday round. Only world No. 3 Cameron Young was better on the day with a 63. But Young sat in third place at -12, while Fitzpatrick set the pace at -14.
McIlroy, making his first PGA Tour start since winning his second straight green jacket in April, fell effectively out of contention at Quail Hollow, a course where he has won four times, when he fell 13 strokes in back of the leader ahead after Round 3, of next week’s PGA Championship at Aronimink.
Rory McIlroy’s Final Position at 2026 Truist
The Northern Irishman required 17 consecutive pars before finally draining a birdie on the par-4 ninth hole in Round 1, He never really recovered despite a solid final round.
“I was thinking I can’t remember the last time I played a round of golf and didn’t have a birdie,” McIlroy said, as as quoted by the PGA Tour news service.
Reitan, a 28-year-old rookie on the PGA Tour, shot a -2 on the final day to squeak past Rickie Fowler and Nicolai Hojgaard by two strokes for the 72 holes at Qual Hollow.
The tournament serves as the final tuneup before the PGA Championship, and a win at the Truist this week also delivers automatic entry into next week’s major for any player not already exempt.
