Will Team USA Captain Keegan Bradley Pick Himself for 2025 Ryder Cup?
There’s always intrigue around the Ryder Cup captain’s picks, but that has reached a new level this year as the golf world waits to see if Bradley names himself to the roster. There hasn’t been a Ryder Cup playing captain since 1963, which might as well be forever ago in the history of the storied tournament.
Bradley wouldn’t tip his hand at the Tour Championship, the final PGA Tour event before he announced his decision, but he sounds very much open to adding himself to the mix for the late-September clash at Bethpage Black on Long Island.
“Well, it’s difficult because I want to put the team in the best position to win the Ryder Cup,” he told reporters after recording a top-10 finish in the FedEx Cup final. “So there’s sort of an unknown of — Arnold Palmer did it in 1963, but it’s a totally different tournament now.
“It’s just a heavy decision. All the picks are tough. Captain is going to be judged on who they pick. Pretty strange thing to pick yourself.
“It’s something that I’ve been thinking about for a long time, and I just want to make sure we make the right one.”

Half of Team USA Roster Is Already Set
Bradley’s captain’s pick will consist of a group of six players that will round out his 12-man roster. The other six have already clinched a spot on points. Here are the American players who have already qualified for the Ryder Cup:
Scottie Scheffler
J.J. Spaun
Xander Schauffele
Russell Henley
Harris English
Bryson DeChambeau

It’s possible Bradley goes completely off the board with a pick or two, but the main contenders are pretty evident. Longtime Ryder Cup stalwarts Justin Thomas and Collin Morikawa feel like they’re probably virtual locks, especially as the Nos. 7 and 8 players on points, respectively.
After that, it’s a little murkier. Ben Griffin’s breakout season has him in the No. 9 spot. Between points and play, he feels like he should be safe, but No Laying Up’s Chris Solomon recently said he’s hearing Griffin might be on the outside looking in.
The Ryder Cup will begin Sept. 26 at Bethpage Black.
