On Sunday evening, the Atlanta Braves will play the final game of their series against the Cleveland Guardians (in Georgia).
The series is tied up at 1-1.
Braves Announce Roster Decision

Before Sunday’s game, the Braves announced that they had made a roster decision with Martín Pérez.
Mark Bowman of MLB.com wrote: “Dylan Dodd is up to provide bullpen depth. Martin Perez was DFA’d. Weiss said he isn’t sure who will replace Perez in the rotation. Thursday’s offday creates a chance to wait until next weekend to make a decision. That means both Ritchie and Fuentes would be options”
Pérez had been in the middle of his first year playing for Atlanta.
He is 0-1 with a 3.14 ERA in three games.
MLB Fans React To Pérez News

Here’s what people were saying about the decision on social media:
@Trenciarte: “Feels like this means Didier Fuentes will be back with the Braves this week. Martin Perez gets DFA’d instead of Jose Suarez because you want to use Suarez for any mop up duty that happens this week.”
@ATL_SportsZone: “Why not DFA Suarez?”
@TheEnforcer_87: “#Braves DFA the wrong pitcher 🤦♂️”
@Freed_Saint: “So we kept Suarez over Perez??? What sense does that make???”
Pérez’s MLB Career

Pérez is in the middle of his 15th MLB season.
He spent the first seven years of his career playing for the Rangers before stints with the Minnesota Twins and Boston Red Sox.
The 35-year-old then returned to the Rangers for two more seasons, making the All-Star Game (in 2022) and winning the World Series (in 2023).

Before the Braves, Pérez had spent the last two seasons with the Pittsburgh Pirates, San Diego Padres and Chicago White Sox.
Over 328 career games, he has gone 91-94 with a 4.40 ERA.
Braves Right Now

The Braves are 9-6 in 15 games, which has them at the top of the National League East.
They will remain at home to host the Miami Marlins on Monday.
