9-Year Player Still A Free Agent

Earlier this month, the Braves released Ben Gamel from their organization.
MLB.com wrote (on August 3): “Gwinnett Stripers released RF Ben Gamel.”
With just over one month left in the season, Gamel still remains available (as of August 21).

Gamel did not play in a game for the Braves at the MLB level.
He batted .210 with 39 hits, three home runs, 20 RBIs, 24 runs and two stolen bases in 57 games in Triple-A.
It will be interesting to see if he gets picked up by another team before the end of the 2026 season.
Looking At Gamel

Gamel was picked in the 10th round of the 2010 MLB Draft.
He last appeared in an MLB game during the 2024 season.
Over part of nine seasons, Gamel has spent time with the Seattle Mariners, Pittsburgh Pirates, Milwaukee Brewers, Houston Astros, New York Mets, Cleveland Guardians, New York Yankees and San Diego Padres.

The 34-year-old is batting .252 with 516 hits, 41 home runs, 204 RBIs, 283 runs and 22 stolen bases in 723 games.
