After the game, manager Walt Weiss was asked about Mahle (who the Braves recently traded for).
Weiss (h/t Baseball on Fanatics Views): “Tyler did great. He’s been a great pickup for us at the deadline. The velocity was good tonight. And the fastball plays up on top of the velocity. So and he can pitch. Got the split-finger, cutter. So it’s basically a three-pitch mix, but he commands them all and he executes pitches.”
Mahle has gone 2-1 with a 1.52 ERA in his first four starts for the Braves.
