Braves Emerging as Top Landing Spot for All-Star Starting Pitcher

The Braves are being linked to Tyler Anderson.

The Atlanta Braves have a decent 6-5 record on the season, but they have been struggling as of late. The Braves are currently on a three-game losing streak, so they will be looking to get things back on track against the Los Angeles Angels on Tuesday night.

One major storyline following the Braves this season has been their serious injury trouble with their pitching rotation. Due to this, it would not be surprising in the slightest if they look to bring in at least one more starting pitcher early on this season.

Because of this, they are now being linked to one of the more notable free-agent pitchers who have yet to find their new home in April.

Atlanta Braves Named Top Landing Spot for Free Agent Pitcher Tyler Anderson

In a recent article for Bleacher Report, Zachary D. Rymer discussed the top remaining free agents and named a handful of potential landing spots for them. Pitcher Tyler Anderson made the cut, and it is understandable when noting that he is one of the top pitchers still available for the taking.

When it came to Anderson, Rymer named the Braves as the best landing spot for the two-time All-Star starting pitcher.

“As everyone should be well aware by now, Atlanta’s rotation has been decimated by injuries. It has a 3.02 ERA anyway, but that is to be taken with a boulder of salt,” Rymer wrote. “At the least, Anderson would be a depth piece for them to stash in the minors until he’s needed. At best, he could step right into their rotation as soon as he’s ramped up.”

When noting that the Braves are dealing with serious injury trouble during the early stages of this season, it would make sense for them to bring in a veteran pitcher like Anderson for more depth. This is especially so when noting that he has a solid resume that includes him being an All-Star in two out of the last four seasons.

Anderson had a tough 2025 season with the Angels, though, as he had a 2-8 record, a 4.56 ERA, and 104 strikeouts. Yet, when noting that he had a 3.81 ERA and 142 strikeouts just back in 2024 with the Angels, the possibility of him bouncing back this season should not be ruled out. He also had a 15-5 record, a 2.57 ERA, and 138 strikeouts in 30 games for the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2022.

Braves Need to Add a New Pitcher Immediately

Whether it’s Anderson or another pitcher, the Braves would be wise to add a starter during the early stages of this season. They need more depth as they continue to deal with injuries, and bringing in a 10-year veteran like Anderson could be good for them because of it.

A few other pitchers who remain free agents at this point of the season include Lucas Giolito, Marcus Stroman, and Nestor Cortes. With this, the Braves have some options to consider, and it will be interesting to see if they do add a new pitcher from here. Anderson stands out as a solid potential option.
