Braves World Series Champ Could Retire With $40 Million

With their season over, it’s worth taking a look at Chris Martin.
He was with the Braves when they won their 2021 title.
Earlier this season, Martin was released by the Texas Rangers.
MLB.com wrote (on August 8): “Texas Rangers released RHP Chris Martin.”

As of October 26, Martin still remains available to sign with any team in the MLB.
That said, the 40-year-old is at an age where it’s possible he is done playing for good.
If Martin ends up calling it quits, he will walk away with over $40 million in career earrings (h/t Spotrac).
Looking At Martin’s Stint With The Braves

Martin spent part of three seasons in Atlanta.
MLB.com wrote (on July 30, 2019): “Texas Rangers traded RHP Chris Martin to Atlanta Braves for LHP Kolby Allard.”
Martin had an impressive run in 2020 when he went 1-1 with a 1.00 ERA in 19 games.
He also had a 2.19 ERA in 14 postseason games for Atlanta.
Looking At His Other Stops In The MLB

Martin was picked in the 21st round of the 2005 MLB Draft.
He also had stops with the Boston Red Sox, Chicago Cubs, Los Angeles Dodgers, New York Yankees and Colorado Rockies over 11 MLB seasons.
It will be interesting to see if anyone picks up Martin before 2027 Spring Training.
Over 434 career games, he has gone 19-25 with a 3.53 ERA (and 16 saves).
