Boston Red Sox Announce Reassignment of 23-Year-Old From Restricted List
In the middle of their series against the Giants, the Red Sox quietly announced Rivera’s reassignment.
On the MLB Transactions log, it announced the Red Sox move: “Boston Red Sox reassigned LHP Eduardo Rivera to the minor leagues.”
Rivera is a 23-year-old pitcher. He was originally an Oakland Athletics draft selection in 2021.

Rivera is a 6-foot-7, 237-pound southpaw who was recently put on the restricted list.
According to Chris Cotillo, Rivera was attending to a personal matter.
“Per MLB transactions log, Red Sox have placed rookie left-hander Eduardo Rivera on the restricted list. He had been on the Triple-A IL for a few days with back inflammation,” Cotillo explained. “Rivera had to tend to a personal matter, a source says, explaining him being on the restricted list.”
Rivera has pitched four MLB games in 2026. In those games, he has recorded 10 strikeouts while posting a 6.30 ERA and a 1.40 WHIP in 10 innings.
In Triple-A, he’s primarily been used as a reliever. In 24 games, Rivera has 55 strikeouts, two holds, and three starts in 45.2 innings.
Looking at the Boston Red Sox & Blade Tidwell
The Red Sox would like to keep the good times rolling against the Giants on Saturday.
Saturday will feature a pitching duel between Patrick Sandoval and Blade Tidwell.
Tidwell is a 25-year-old pitcher who has started three games and pitched in eight others as a reliever. During the 2026 season, he has recorded 20 strikeouts, one hold and one save, and earned a 4.33 ERA.
He has pitched 27 innings.
Prior to 2026, Tidwell pitched for the New York Mets in 2025.
Saturday’s contest should be entertaining. The Red Sox would like to put some distance between themselves and the Toronto Blue Jays & Baltimore Orioles.
