The Boston Red Sox are slated to begin a three-game series against the San Francisco Giants at Fenway Park at 7:10 p.m. EDT on Friday.
Ahead of Friday’s game, the Red Sox revealed injury updates on Garrett Crochet, Garrett Whitlock and others.

Garrett Crochet has advanced to throwing at 90 feet with intensity
Garrett Whitlock threw at 120 feet today, could throw a bullpen soon
Via MassLive.Com’s Cristopher Smith on X: Garrett Crochet is throwing out to 90 feet “with more intensity,” Chad Tracy said.
Smith added: Garrett Whitlock was out to 90 feet on Wednesday and 120 feet today. “So he’s making good progress,” Chad Tracy said.

Crochet has been on the IL since April 29 due to left shoulder inflammation.
Crochet is optimistic he will return this season, but said he will likely pitch in relief upon being reinstated from the IL.
As for a timeline? “I’m not gonna say (when), because I don’t know.”
Before landing on the IL, Crochet posted a a rough 6.30 ERA in 40 innings across six starts.
Ctochet clearly wasn’t feeling 100% before landing on the IL, as he posted an outstanding 2.59 ERA with 255 strikeouts over 205 1/3 innings last year en route to being named the AL Cy Young runner-up.

The Red Sox placed Whitlock on the IL with right elbow inflammation on Aug. 13.
Whitlock has recorded a 2.25 ERA with 49 strikeouts over 44 innings out of the bullpen with Boston this year.

Whitlock has a career 2.99 ERA over 357 2/3 innings.
Earlier this week, the right-hander underwent an MRI, which didn’t reveal any structural issues.

The Red Sox won two of three games against the Arizona Diamondbacks earlier this week. They had the day off on Thursday.
Boston is the second American League Wild Card team with a 68-59 record. The club is eight games back of the Tampa Bay Rays for first place in the American League East.
