The Boston Red Sox are moving on from their series against the San Francisco Giants by going toe-to-toe with the Miami Marlins. The Red Sox will do this even as news of Jacob Webb emerges.
The Red Sox will look to continue their winning ways on Monday night. They swept the Giants and will start their series against the Marlins at 6:40 PM Eastern Time, 4:40 PM Mountain Time.

Earlier on August 24th, 2026, another MLB team released a former Red Sox player.
In this case, the Minnesota Twins released Webb. The move was announced on the MiLB Transactions Log: “Wichita Wind Surge released RHP Jacob Webb.”
Webb is a 25-year-old pitcher. The 6-foot-5, 246-pound hurler was originally drafted by the Red Sox.

Webb’s situation has just gone from bad to worse.
It’s one thing to get cut from a team; it’s another thing entirely to be released by more than one team in a short span of time.
The Red Sox released Webb on June 11th, 2026. He would sign with the Twins on June 14th, three days later.
In 30 games, he recorded 53 strikeouts, three holds, and a 6.90 ERA. Additionally, Webb did not earn a save in four opportunities.

The Red Sox want to keep the good times rolling against the Marlins. After a feel-good weekend because of sweeping the Giants, the Red Sox can put some serious distance between themselves and the rest of the AL East with another sweep.
Tonight’s game features a starting pitcher’s battle between Ranger Suarez and Sandy Alcantara.
Alcantara boasts a 13-8 record to go along with a 3.46 ERA and 131 strikeouts.
The Red Sox are three games behind the New York Yankees and six games behind the Tampa Bay Rays. Boston has a 7-3 record in their last 10 games.
With only a few short weeks of the season left, it’s do-or-die time for the Red Sox.
