NESN’s Tom Caron wrote on X: “Red Sox have signed John Brebbia to a minor-league deal per sources. Originally from Sharon, MA. The 36-yr old righty had a 1.62 in 16.2 innings w/ AAA Albuquerque. Contending teams can’t have enough depth.”

Brebbia had signed with the Red Sox last September but never appeared in a game with Boston. The right-hander appeared in three games with the Rockies this year. In 37 Triple-A innings this season, he has a 4.14 ERA and a 3.96 FIP.

The Yankees released Brebbia in the 2013-14 offseason. He spent the 2014 and most of the 2015 seasons in independent ball before signing a minor-league deal with the Arizona Diamondbacks in Sept. 2015.
