After coming off the bench on Sunday, Duran is back in the starting lineup as he will bat seventh against the Miami Marlins.
Duran is in the middle of a solid stretch at the plate. Over the past 20 games, he has a .254 batting average with an .805 OPS, largely due to his eight extra-base hits in that span.
Overall, the one-time All-Star has struggled offensively this season. He’s batting a career-low .207 with 96 hits, 13 doubles, four triples, 17 home runs, 58 runs, 62 RBIs and 18 stolen bases in 512 games. His .627 OPS is the lowest since his rookie season in 2021.
Duran still has two more years under team control before being an unrestricted free agent in 2029.

After the series sweep over the Giants, the Boston Red Sox improved to 71-59. They remain in third place of the American League East, six games behind the Tampa Bay Rays. Boston currently holds the second Wild Card spot in the American League. They have gone 7-3 over their last 10 games.
Left-hander Ranger Suarez is set to make his 23rd start of the season. He enters Monday’s game with a 5-3 record and a 3.41 ERA in 113.1 innings this season. Suarez has not registered a quality start in any of his last six appearances.
Marlins Right Now
Meanwhile, the Miami Marlins are also fresh off a sweep. They swept the Washington Nationals over the weekend as they improved to 67-64. The Marlins have gone 5-5 over their last 10 games. They are four games behind the San Diego Padres, who currently hold the third Wild Card spot in the National League.
Right-hander Sandy Alcantara is expected to start for the Marlins in the series opener. Alcantara enters Monday’s matchup with a 13-8 record and a 3.46 ERA in 176.2 innings this season. Alcantara has registered five consecutive quality starts.
