On Sunday, the Chicago Cubs will finish up their series with the Chicago White Sox at Rate Field.
The two teams are tied up at 1-1, so whoever wins on Sunday will take the series.
Cubs Announce Roster Move
Ahead of Sunday’s game, the Cubs announced that they had made a series of roster moves.
Sahadev Sharma of The Athletic wrote: “Cubs select the contract of LHP Ty Blach from Iowa. Javier Assad has been optioned to Iowa and Hunter Harvey moved to the 60-day IL.”
Blach’s MLB Background
Blach last pitched in an MLB game during the 2024 season.
He has spent part of seven seasons with the Colorado Rockies, San Francisco Giants and Baltimore Orioles.
Over 156 career games, the 35-year-old has gone 23-33 with a 5.42 ERA.
Matt Lindner wrote: “Ty Blach last pitched in the bigs in 2024 with the Rockies, when he went 3-8 with a 6.94 ERA.”
Assad’s Background
Assad is in his fifth MLB season (all with the Cubs).
He is currently 3-1 with a 5.88 ERA in eight games (three starts) this season.
In 2024, the 28-year-old had a 3.73 ERA in 29 starts.
Cubs Right Now
The Cubs come into Sunday as the top team in the National League Central with a 29-17 record in 46 games.
They are 11-12 in the 23 games they have played on the road.
Following Sunday’s game, the Cubs will return to Wrigley Field for a series with the Milwaukee Brewers that starts on Monday.
Last season, the Brewers beat the Cubs in the NLDS.
White Sox Right Now
The White Sox are the second-place team in the American League Central with a 23-22 record in 45 games.
They are 13-10 in 23 games at home.
Following the Cubs, the White Sox will visit the Seattle Mariners on Monday.
