Carlson was the 33rd pick in the 2016 MLB Draft.

He spent the first four and a half seasons of his career with the St. Louis Cardinals.

In that span, the 27-year-old batted .239 with 340 hits, 34 home runs, 161 RBI’s and 185 runs in 447 games.

After his stint with St. Louis, Carlson was traded to the Tampa Bay Rays (in 2024).

The Cardinals wrote (via X) on July 30, 2024: “Thank you for your many contributions to our club and our community over these last five seasons, Dylan Carlson! Best of luck in Tampa Bay.”

Carlson also spent time with the Baltimore Orioles before joining the Cubs.

His career batting average is .233 with 409 hits, 43 home runs, 195 RBI’s and 210 runs in 570 games.

He could be a good pickup for another organization before the end of the 2026 season.

They are 15-5 in the 20 games they have played at Wrigley Field.

Following their series with the Reds, the Cubs will head on the road to visit the Texas Rangers on Friday night.

Last season, they lost to the Milwaukee Brewers in the NLDS.
