On Saturday afternoon, the Chicago Cubs beat the New York Mets by a score of 4-2 at Wrigley Field.
They have a 2-0 lead in the series, and will look to go for the sweep on Sunday.
Cubs Make Roster Decision With 7-Year Player
Before the game, news came out that the Cubs had made a minor roster decision.
Tommy Birch of Des Moines Register wrote: “The Cubs have signed outfielder Dylan Carlson to a minor league contract. Carlson was recently designated for assignment by the Cubs and opted to become a free agent.
He’s landed back with the Cubs, was sent to the @IowaCubs where @jkempradio reports he’s in today’s lineup.”

Carlson appeared in three games for the Cubs this season.
He had one run in four at-bats.
Birch added: “Today’s @IowaCubs transactions: -OF Dylan Carlson signs minor league deal with Cubs and joins Iowa. -LHP Jordan Wicks joins Iowa on rehab assignment (starting today). -RHP Corbin Martin promoted to Chicago.”
Carlson’s MLB Career
Carlson was picked in the first round of the 2016 MLB Draft.
He spent the first four and a half seasons of his career playing for the St. Louis Cardinals.
During the 2021 season, Carlson batted .266 with 18 home runs and 65 RBI’s.
Following the Cardinals, Carlson had stints with the Baltimore Orioles and Tampa Bay Rays (before the Cubs).
Over 570 games, he is batting .233 with 43 home runs, 195 RBI’s, 210 runs and 16 stolen bases.
At just 27, Carlson is a good piece of depth for the Cubs to have in their organization.
Cubs Right Now
The Cubs have been hit with a lot of injuries to start the 2026 season.
They are still 11-9 in 20 games, but the National League Central has been such a strong division that they are in last place.
At home, the Cubs are 6-5 in the 11 games they have played at Wrigley Field.
After the Mets, the Cubs will remain at home to host the Philadelphia Phillies on Monday.
They lost in the NLDS last season.
