Also on Friday, the Tigers announced the latest update on Kerry Carpenter.
MLB.com wrote (on August 21): “Has started rehab progression again after setback during running drills.”
According to the site, Carpenter’s return to MLB action is still TBD.

Before getting hurt, Carpenter had been batting .208 with 48 hits, 13 home runs, 36 RBIs and 27 runs in 81 games.

Carpenter was picked in the 19th round of the 2019 MLB Draft.
He is in the middle of his 5th season at the MLB level (all with the Tigers).
The 28-year-old is coming off a year where he hit 26 home runs.

The Tigers are currently the fourth-place team in the American League Central with a 61-67 record in 128 games.
That said, they are 6.0 games back of the Chicago White Sox for first.
Following two more games with the Royals, the Tigers will return home to host the Tampa Bay Rays on Monday night.
Chris McCosky of The Detroit News wrote: “Tigers have lost six of seven. They are 6 back in the division, 2.5 back in the wild card race with 34 games left.”
