The Tigers today selected the contract of LHP Andrew Sears from Triple-A Toledo. Sears, who will wear uniform #64, joins the first major league roster of his professional career.

LHP Enmanuel DeJesus was optioned to Triple-A following last night’s game.

OF James Outman has been activated off the 7-day concussion injured list and designated for assignment.

The Tigers claimed Outman off waivers from the Minnesota Twins on June 11.

Detroit placed him on the 7-day concussion injured list on Aug. 13.

The Tigers claimed Outman when they desperately needed center field help, as Javier Báez and Parker Meadows were both on the IL at the time.

But now that Max Clark is in the majors and Báez is healthy, the Tigers no longer need Outman, a strong defender but below-average hitter.

In 45 games with the Tigers, Outman hit .183/.240/.366 with five home runs and 14 RBI.

Outman made his MLB debut with the Dodgers in 2022. He appeared in just four games that season.

In 2023, Outman had a spectacular rookie season with Los Angeles, posting 3.4 bWAR and a .790 OPS with 23 home runs and 70 RBI. He finished third in NL Rookie of the Year voting.
