They are coming off a 1-0 loss (on Friday).

Tigers Announce Justin Verlander News
The Tigers currently remain without starting pitcher Justin Verlander (who is on the IL).
Tigers PR wrote (on April 4): “The Tigers today placed RHP Justin Verlander on the 15-day injured list (retroactive to April 1) with left hip inflammation. RHP Keider Montero has been recalled from Triple-A Toledo.”
Ahead of the series, manager A.J. Hinch revealed that Verlander did not make the trip to Boston.
Evan Petzold of Detroit Free Press wrote (on Friday): “Justin Verlander (left hip injury) was planning to travel with the #Tigers to Boston, but he ended up not making the trip.”
Verlander signed with the Tigers over the offseason.
He has appeared in one game, going 3.2 innings (and allowing five earned runs).

During his time with the Astors, Verlander won two more Cy Young Awards (and two World Series Championships).
At 43, fans are excited that he is likely finishing his career with the Tigers.

The Tigers come into Saturday as the third-place team in the American League Central with a 10-10 record in 20 games.
They are 8-1 in nine games at home (but only 2-9 on the road).
Following three more games against Boston, the Tigers will return home to host the Milwaukee Brewers on April 21.
