The Los Angeles Dodgers are set to begin a crucial series on Monday against the San Diego Padres. The Baltimore Orioles will take on the Tampa Bay Rays in a three-game set as well this week.
Before both teams start their upcoming series, the Orioles have claimed outfielder Michael Siani off waivers from the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Michael Siani was designated for assignment by the Dodgers when Los Angeles traded for Alek Thomas.

Michael Siani Claimed By Baltimore Orioles
It will be interesting to see what role Michael Siani actually has with the Baltimore Orioles this season. He’s already been optioned to Triple-A Norfolk.
MLBTradeRumors.com’s Steve Adams was quick to the news and gave some insight on Siani’s journey in MLB:
“The 26-year-old Siani has spent the entire 2026 season with the Dodgers’ Triple-A club after coming over from the Yankees in a February waiver claim. That capped off a busy winter for Siani, who bounced from the Cardinals, to the Braves, to the Dodgers, to the Yankees and back to the Dodgers in a series of DFAs and waiver claims. In 107 plate appearances with the Dodgers’ top affiliate, Siani has slashed just .225/.355/.303. He’s walked at a huge 15.9% clip but has also fanned in 28% of his plate appearances and has yet to hit a home run.”
Michael Siani never actually appeared in an MLB game with the Dodgers during his tenure with the team. The Orioles claiming him off waivers is an organizational depth move.

Michael Siani’s MLB Career

Siani has appeared in parts of four MLB seasons with the St. Louis Cardinals and Cincinnati Reds. He debuted with the Reds in 2022, but has seen very limited MLB chances over his career.
He received 298 at-bats with the Cardinals in 2024, but hit just .228 and showed a limited display of power. The Cardinals gave him 19 games’ worth of chances in 2025, but he hit just .235 with 0 extra-base hits.
For his career, over 344 total ABs, Michael Siani has two home runs, seven doubles, and an OPS of .547. Once a fourth-round draft pick by the Cincinnati Reds, Michael Siani just hasn’t found his footing in the big leagues.

As mentioned, the Dodgers are beginning a huge series with the San Diego Padres this week with National League West standings implications.
The Dodgers are 29-18, good for first place in the NL West. However, the Padres have been great this season with a 28-18 record. It should be a very entertaining series at Petco Park in San Diego.
