Shohei Ohtani got the start on Wednesday, going six innings with two strikeouts and no earned runs.

He also made team history with his performance.

Sarah Langs of MLB.com wrote: “Shohei Ohtani is the first Dodgers pitcher to start a season with consecutive outings of 6+ innings & no earned runs since Kenta Maeda in 2016

Only Dodger to begin a season with 3 or more consecutive such outings since ER official in NL (1912): 1985 Fernando Valenzuela, 4″

Ohtani had been coming off a start where he went six innings (and allowed one hit).

He is also batting .286 with three home runs, eight RBI’s and seven runs in 11 games.

Noah Camras of Dodgers OnSI wrote: “Shohei Ohtani didn’t have his best stuff on Wednesday against the Blue Jays. He still managed to put together a strong outing for the Dodgers:

6 IP 4 H 0 ER (1 unearned run) 1 BB 2 K

He now has a 0.00 ERA across 12 innings to start the season.”

After winning each of the last two World Series Championships, the Dodgers are off to an incredible start to the 2026 season.

They are 9-2 in their first 11 games, which has them at the top of the National League West.

Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic wrote: “Shohei Ohtani’s day on the mound is in the books:

6 IP, 4 H, 1 R (0 ER), 1 BB, 2 Ks, 96 pitches, 20% CSW%

It’s the fewest strikeouts he’s ever had in a game of 6+ IP. His scoreless streak ended at 24 2/3 IP. Still a strong result – a testament to his quality as a pitcher.”
