The New York Mets might finally be getting their ace back. Kodai Senga, the club’s prized right-hander, delivered a promising rehab start this weekend and could return to the big-league rotation “very soon,” according to Mets manager Carlos Mendoza.
Senga, who has been out all season with a shoulder capsule strain, pitched 2.2 innings for the High-A Brooklyn Cyclones on Friday, allowing one run while striking out four. It was his second rehab appearance, and by all accounts, his sharpness and command are improving at the perfect time for a Mets team still searching for stability.

Mendoza didn’t mince words when asked about Senga’s status. “He looked good,” the manager said. “There’s a very real possibility he could be back with us very soon.”
Senga threw 40 pitches and topped out at 96 mph with his fastball, showing flashes of the electric stuff that made him an NL Rookie of the Year finalist in 2023. Last season, the 31-year-old posted a 2.98 ERA with 202 strikeouts over 166.1 innings, giving the Mets a frontline presence they desperately needed.
